Appropriate Clothing

There are some heavy and sharp items in the workshop therefore participants must wear shoes which offer some degree of protection. Sandals and open toe shoes may be stylish, however, are a no no! (Shoes made from leather or leather substitute should offer a sensible amount of protection.)

Chemicals such as mild acid and also oil is used which could cause damage to clothing. Whilst aprons are provided it is recommended that students so not wear their Sunday best.
-
Long loose sleeves are not recommended unless they can be rolled up as this could be a hazard when using a torch.
-
Long hair must be tied back to avoid being caught in the flame of a torch or other machinery/tools.
Food & Drink

To ensure that chemicals are not accidentally consumed, eating food and drinking is not recommended in the workshop space. However making jewellery can be thirsty work so access to drinking water is possible during workshop time in a separate area. Always wash your hands!
